Company Background:
For over 40 years, the James A. Redding Company has been the pioneer in the design, production, and supply of bulk material sampling systems and components. The company has installed over 500 systems around the world and is the leader in providing customized sampling systems that meet all current sampling standards. James A. Redding's experienced staff works closely with clients in designing systems that meet the requirements of each individual situation from new installations, improving existing systems, or retrofitting new systems in existing facilities. Qualified field service technicians are available to assist in installation and startup and can also provide expertise in particular sampling techniques.

[photo] With close to 70,000 square feet of manufacturing space, the James A. Redding Company is fully equipped to build the largest of systems and all the components needed to meet customer needs. Our clients rely on us to furnish quality, precision, and service in every project we undertake.

The Science of Sampling:
Sampling combines statistical theory and engineering to mechanically obtain a small portion of material flow that accurately represents the whole. Coal constitutes the largest volume of any bulk material that is sampled. The approximate 1 billion tons of coal mined annually in the United States are sampled many times between producer and consumer.

Both American and international technical organizations have established standards for coal sampling to ensure equitable accounting of quality. A system meeting these standards unvaryingly produces statistically precise (unbiased) final samples. This is accomplished by minimizing all possible sources of bias when designing and manufacturing our systems.

The James A. Redding Company conceptualizes, engineers, and manufactures a complete line of sampling equipment and systems including, but not limited to the following:

  • Conventional baffle plate systems - two and three stage.
  • Nine-Iron swing arm systems - two and three stage.
  • Truck and rail car auger systems.
  • Nuclear analyzer feed and discharge systems can be designed into single two-stage, three-stage, and auger systems.
  • Design and build any combination of our systems.
  • Modular systems to meet specific customer needs.
  • Sampling equipment components and controls.
